Honestly, sometimes we are the ones who not only understand ourselves best, but also know what we actually need right now.
Whether we’ve forgotten how capable, talented, or worthy we are, or how much we’ve grown and changed, receiving messages from the person who understands us best can be a unique and authentic experience.
I’ve created templates for letters from your future and younger selves, as well as letters to your younger self.
Letters from your future self
Your future self is not someone else, some alter ego with different personality. They are a potential version of you who has already reached places you aspire to reach. Maybe they have already made it through the difficult circumstances you are dealing with now. Maybe you doubt yourself and the possibility that you will ever have the future you want or get through the unpleasant circumstances you are facing right now.
Your future self is here to ignite that faith in you once more. They know you and how capable you are. They also know how things might look from a certain angle at a certain point in time, and how overwhelmed you might feel.

Letters from your younger self
You may have forgotten challenges you overcame and things you achieved. Going back to a younger version of yourself can remind you of the person you were and the seemingly impossible challenges you faced, things that may feel much easier to handle today. Back then, you might have wished for things you worked hard to achieve but now take for granted. Let your younger self show you how far you’ve come by seeing who you are today through their eyes.

Letters to your younger self
We often carry an image of our younger self with us. It might be a happy memory or a sad one, yet we see it as something fixed that cannot be changed. If we could go back, we might want to tell our younger self how much we love them. Maybe we want to remind them that we will always be there for them, and how unique and special they are to us.
While we can’t change the past, we can see it differently and use our imagination to create a different picture. These young versions of ourselves don’t only live in the past. They are here with us right now. They are part of our inner child, who sometimes still wants to be heard and loved.
